Players who are registered in a player-pitch Little League Division (AA, AAA, Majors) must attend a tryout/evaluation. All registered players make teams and evaluations are used to balance teams and simply gauge your player's skill level. Tryouts are for AA-Majors only, Little League Age 8-12. Lower divisions do not tryout. Advanced League Age 7 players may tryout but must be drafted in order to play AA. Undrafted League Age 7 -8 players are guaranteed placement in lower divisions.
The draft is where the managers of the competitive divisions (AA, AAA, Majors) pick their teams for the season. They make their player selections based off of their tryout notes and past seasons watching the players in the league. The draft is done to help maintain an even playing field among the various teams.
