Parade Details

Boys should be dressed in full uniform and wear tennis shoes and NO CLEATS. Check the game schedule and be prepared for an early game. Parents should have cleats and uniform bags with them for teams playing in the first game (9:30 a.m.).

The goal of the parade is to kick off the season with a spectacular event for the players, their families, and the entire community to experience and remember for years to come. It’s a great way for the players and their families to bond with their new teammates and coaches!

Parade Float (Truck) Decorations

Team moms will organize the float decorating ideas and team decorating times. Most teams use a pick-up truck, a flat bed, stake truck, or trailer. It’s all up to the team, what they can acquire for the day and their imagination. Do try to involve the kids in participating and decorating as much as possible. Typically, teams decorate their floats the night before or right before the parade starts.

On the morning of the parade parents often bring donuts, bagels, juice or milks for the kiddos and coffee for the parents. Floats will be judged and winners will be selected.

Opening Day Ceremony

Each year, the entire league gathers in uniform at the fields to celebrate a new season of baseball, friends, and community. It is a terrific experience for kids of all ages to see and feel that they are a part of something big. The opening ceremony kicks off with the Pledge of Allegiance and is followed by a few speeches where parents and players are recognized for their time, commitment, support and achievements. During the opening day ceremony sponsors are thanked, as they help make the baseball league possible, and all Little League teams are introduced as the kids run off the field for the first time as a team.
