VPLL 2020 Season Update - Take the Survey

Thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate our way through this difficult and uncertain time. Below are some updates to our season and answers to frequently asked questions.  The VPLL Board is actively monitoring as much guidance as we can from OUSD, The County of Orange, the CDC, and Little League International surrounding Covid-19 and our return to baseball activities.

This is not the season we were hoping for and we want to get our kids back out there on the field, safely enjoying the game they love with their friends and families. All VPLL activities, including team practices and games, are still suspended until further notice.

Will the Season start up again this summer?

We have been targeting a return in June, however, that is subject to OUSD approving facility use and youth baseball being cleared to play by the OC Health Department and the State. We permit our fields from OUSD and they ultimately control our access to the fields. Currently, OUSD has not provided a date for reopening of baseball fields for our use. We hope to hear back sometime in the next couple of weeks.  In any scenario, the league would need 1-2 weeks additional time to reschedule practices and games if and when play is allowed to resume. Thank you for your feedback on Player Availability should we be able to return to the fields.

What if we cannot return to baseball this summer?

If we are not able to start back up by July 1st we will be offering refunds or the option to donate the remaining portion of your registration to the league. Offered refund amounts would be as follows:

Majors: $56

  • AAA: $56
  • AA: $56
  • Single A/Rookie: $46
  • T Ball: $46
  • Juniors (50/70): $35

We are also including the option to decline the refund and donate that remaining portion of your registration fee to the league.

Please use the attached form to indicate your preference for each player.

We understand that registration fees are a significant expense to many families and in these times of economic uncertainty, every penny counts. Please remember that we are a non-profit organization and your registration fees are what enable us to thrive. VPLL incurred a number of expenses preparing for the start of our season. These costs include expenses for field maintenance/upgrades, league charter fees, uniforms, equipment, snack bar, and insurance, to name a few.  Additionally, we were unable to perform our fundraising and snack bar sales for most of the season, which help to offset these league expenses. This donation will help cover these costs as well as our ongoing field maintenance and any safety improvements needed for next season. If you are in a position to help VPLL, please consider converting your full registration into a tax-deductible donation.

We also understand that there may be some families who do not wish to participate in any summer program and there is the option to withdraw from the season now.  This option is available on the attached document as well.

Other Updates:

Angels Day refunds are being processed and mailed out.

We are in the process of rescheduling the second Picture Day for Saturday June 13th. The schedule and location information will be sent out as soon as possible.
